HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
(HEAP)
Important Notice
Lancaster Utility Customers And
Nationwide Energy Partner Customers
Emergency HEAP can pay only on the GAS or ELECTRIC portion of your bill. It cannot pay on water, sewer, sanitation, storm water, well- head, or a penalty. You will be responsible to pay the balance owed on the remaining utility charges to guarantee an additional 30 days of service.
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded program that provides eligible Ohioans assistance with their home energy bills. This one-time benefit is applied directly to the customer’s utility bill or bulk fuel bill.
The Winter Crisis Program assists Ohioans facing service disconnection, those who have already been disconnected, individuals needing to establish new service, and those required to pay for a service transfer. It also supports households with 25 percent or less of bulk fuel in their tank to maintain service, fuel tank testing and placement, and furnace repair (homeowners only). Qualifying households must have a gross annual income at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty level. This program runs November 1 through March 31.
The Summer Crisis Program assists low-income households or those that have a disconnection notice, have been shut off, are trying to establish new service on their electric bill, require air conditioning, or those with a person 60 years or older living in the home who can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for their health. Qualifying medical conditions can include lung disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, asthma, and others. This program can assist with a window air conditioning unit if you do not have central air, fans, and central air repair. This program runs July 1 through September 30.
To apply for the program, clients are required to complete a phone appointment with Lancaster Fairfield Community Action Agency. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 740-777-9055 or online at https://app.capappointments.com
